Peace River North and South voters head to the polls Saturday

Voters across the Peace Region will have one final opportunity to cast their ballots Saturday as British Columbia wraps up voting in the 2026 provincial election.

Polling places will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 24. Voters can attend their assigned location or choose another voting place in B.C. that is more convenient.

The Peace Region is represented by two provincial ridings: Peace River North and Peace River South. Voters in each riding will choose who represents them in the B.C. legislature.

Who is running?

In Peace River North, voters will choose between two candidates:

  • Jordan Kealy, Independent
  • Curtis Whitford, Conservative Party of B.C.

In Peace River South, three candidates are on the ballot:

  • Larry Neufeld, Conservative Party of B.C.
  • Marsha Rose Dufresne, BC NDP
  • Helen Scott, Independent, endorsed by OneBC

What you need to know before voting

To be eligible to vote, residents must be Canadian citizens, at least 18 years old on Oct. 24, 2026, and have lived in British Columbia since April 23, 2026.

Voters must prove their identity and residential address before receiving a ballot.

Accepted identification includes a B.C. driver’s licence, BC Services Card, BC Identification Card or Certificate of Indian Status. Voters can also use two pieces of identification showing their name, provided at least one includes their current address.

People who do not have identification may be able to have their identity and address confirmed through the voter-vouching process.

Anyone who received a vote-by-mail package but has not returned it can still vote in person or drop off the package at any voting place or district electoral office before polls close at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Preliminary election results are expected to begin appearing after voting ends.
