Northern Rockies hosts pre-nomination session for candidates

People considering a run in this fall’s local government election in the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality will have a chance to learn about the nomination process before it begins.

The municipality is hosting a candidate information session Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m.

The session is aimed at prospective candidates who want to learn more about the nomination process and what is involved in running for local office.

The municipality said the session is intended to help candidates “be informed, be prepared and lead your community.”

The 2026 general local election will be held Oct. 17, with the nomination period running from Sept. 1 to 11.

The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality has also set up an elections webpage with information for prospective candidates.

People with questions about the session or the election process can contact the municipality’s election office at 250-774-2541, ext. 2035, or email elections@northernrockies.ca.

More information is available on the municipality’s 2026 elections webpage.
