A Northern Rockies RCMP officer has been charged with assault with a weapon following an incident in Fort Nelson last year.
The B.C. Prosecution Service announced Thursday that the charge against Const. Maxim Pinke was approved in connection with an incident that occurred on Nov. 6, 2025.
Court documents show one count of assault with a weapon was sworn on Thursday, under Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code.
Pinke is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Fort Nelson Provincial Court on Oct. 29.
The prosecution service says the charge was approved by an experienced Crown counsel who has no connection to the accused.
The B.C. Prosecution Service has policies governing the assessment of criminal charges, including allegations involving peace officers.
As the matter is now before the court, the service said it will not release further information or comment further at this time.
