Fort Nelson woman wins $675,000 after setting scratch ticket aside

A Fort Nelson woman got quite the surprise after finally scratching a lottery ticket she had left sitting in a drawer for several days.

Sandra F. purchased a Set for Life Scratch & Win ticket and set it aside before deciding to scratch it one evening.

She initially didn’t believe what she was seeing  and even put the ticket away until her family could take a look.

“My family had gone to bed and I saw the ticket had been sitting there a few days, so I decided to scratch it,” Sandra recalled.

“I didn’t believe that I’d won, so I put it in a drawer and brought it out the next day to have my family check it!”

Sandra used the BCLC Lotto! App to check the ticket, while her husband and two sons also read through the instructions and confirmed she had won the game’s top prize.

She now has $675,000 to figure out what to do with.

For now, Sandra plans to take some time before making any major decisions. She says she’ll save and invest some of her winnings and help out family.

She’s also planning a little celebration to surprise the rest of her family.

Asked how it feels to win, Sandra summed it up simply:

“Amazing and exciting.”

The Set for Life top prize is either $1,000 a week for 25 years or a one-time lump sum payment of $675,000.

Sandra’s winning ticket was purchased at I.D.A. on 50 Avenue North in Fort Nelson.

BCLC said B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $78 million in Scratch & Win prizes so far in 2026.
