Mounties recover two guns after shots fired in Fort Nelson First Nation

No one was injured after four shots were fired at a home on Chalo Road in Fort Nelson First Nation over the weekend.

Northern Rockies RCMP responded to a report of the incident just after 1 a.m. Jan. 18. When officers arrived, a resident of the home told police four shots had been fired and one hit the house.

“The investigation to date suggests those involved may be known to each other and police do not feel there to be any further risk to the public,” RCMP said.

“Police searched the area where the shots were reported to have come from and found shell casings. While on patrol, police also found items they believe may be connected to the person or persons responsible for the shots fired.”

Items recovered during the investigation included two loaded shotguns, a dirt bike boot, headphones and a hat, police said.

Officers searched the area Sunday but did not locate a suspect.

Police are asking anyone who believes they know the owner of the recovered items or who has information about the incident to contact the RCMP. The investigation is ongoing.
